Our History
In 1980 founder W.G. Satterlee turned the company over to his sons, Gary and Dave Satterlee. Over the next 26 years, the brothers saw extensive growth of the company, including numerous acquisitions of competitors, the addition of 14 cardlock stations, and 3 full-service stations.

Gary Satterlee
Gary Satterlee is the third son of the founder, W.G. Satterlee. During his high school years, Gary worked for his father on weekends, school breaks, and whenever he had free time. After graduating from Marion Center High School, Gary knew that he wanted to work full-time with his father. No special treatment was given or expected; Gary, like many of the other W.G. Satterlee & Sons employees did whatever job was needed. This included truck maintenance, loading and delivering fuel, and anything else necessary to serve their customers. Gary is particularly gifted with a keen mechanical aptitude, which led him to spend much of his time maintaining the fleet of trucks and tankers.
In 1991, when founder W.G. Satterlee turned the company over to Gary and his older brother Dave, the division of responsibilities came naturally. Gary managed the equipment fleet and facilities, while Dave managed the office, purchased fuel, and oversaw daily operations. Over the next 26 years, the brothers saw extensive growth of the company, including numerous acquisitions of competitors, the addition of 14 cardlock stations, and 3 full-service stations. Their operations expanded, covering much of west-central Pennsylvania, and their fleet grew to over 200 units.
In 2017, Gary and Dave made the difficult decision to sell W.G. Satterlee & Sons. The company name changed, but both brothers stayed with the new ownership. In Q4 2023, the company transitioned ownership again and was renamed Satterlee Resources. Throughout these changes, the Satterlee family continued to lead the company, with the third generation now at the helm.
Gary Satterlee remains a humble and stabilizing figure within the organization. Reflecting on his years with the company, Gary acknowledges there were tough times, but overall, it has been a great career. He especially enjoys the family of employees, coaching them, and seeing them thrive. Gary continues to oversee the Satterlee Resources fleet and is always ready to help wherever he can. His years of knowledge, leadership, and character are invaluable to the company.
